Churahi Paharis




Churahi Paharis are among the Hindu people, who live in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh. They speak a language known as Churahi. Agriculture is their main occupation. Churahi Paharis are a hardworking and much isolated people.

They live in small village settlements, which are generally situated near rivers or springs. The members sleep in rectangular houses made of stone and mortar walls. On festive occasions, the women folk wear brightly colored clothes, heavy silver nose rings and earrings, and colorful head scarves.

Around ninety five percentages of the Churahi Paharis are Hindus and others practice some type of ethnic religion. They worship the idols of the five Pandava brothers, the heroic warriors of a Hindu epic.
