Chumpha Festival




Chumpha Festival is the main festival of Tangkhul tribe, who inhabits the Ukhrul District of Manipur. This annual festival is celebrated in the month of December and lasts for seven days. It is usually held after the harvesting season.

Chumpha is mainly celebrated by the women folk of the community. Last three days of the festival are dedicated to get-together and jubilation. A colorful procession, which is taken out in the village, marks the grand finale of this festival.
