Chu Faat Dance

Chu Faat, the age-old folk dance of Lepchas, is performed in honor of the Mount Kanchenjunga and its four associate peaks - Mount Pandim, Mount Kabru, Mount Simbrum and Mount Narshing. Carrying butter lamps and green bamboo leaves, this ritualistic dance is performed to the accompaniment of devotional songs. It is conducted on the 15th day of the seventh month of the Northern Buddhist calendar every year.
