Chorten is a small town situated about 186 km from Srinagar in Kargil District of Jammu and Kashmir. Being located at a height of 9,835 ft, it is an ideal base for the mountaineers and trekkers who are on their trail to the Great Himalayas.
Gampa and Garkhun are two kilometers apart from Chorten towards the west and east. Shudi (2 km) lies on the northern part whereas Dems (3 km) is on the south. Lalung Glacier is a nearby attraction.
