Chitrapur is situated close to

Uttara Kannada District. This place is famous for its Parijnanashrama Swamiji's monastery called Shri Chitrapur Mutt. Around the place there are many temples of
Gopalkrishna,
Dattatreya, Shantadurga and Keshavanarayana.
In the vicinity lies a beautiful park where animals such as deer and hare have been reared. There is a museum established in 1973 which houses different types of conches, bell metal articles, plates, idols made up of ivory and sandalwood, swords, shields, spears, copper plates, a 13th century lamp and many other creative articles.
