Chitrakut Ramlila



Chitrakut Ramlila is an important Ramlila festival celebrated at Chitrakut in Uttar Pradesh. Ramlila is the enactment of the story of Lord Ram, which is presented as a cycle-play days.

This festival is held for five days every year in the last week of February, beginning from the Mahashivratri day. It is said that during the Bharat-Milap (an important Lila) Lord Ram himself manifests in the swaroop performing Ram.

Chitrakut Ramlila evokes a festive atmosphere and enables observance of religious rites. It is also rich in performance crafts including costume jewellery, masks, headgear, make-up and decoration.
