Chitai Temple




Chitai Temple is a noted landmark of Almora, in Almora District of Uttaranchal. The temple is located 6 km from the town center. The presiding deity is Lord Shiva, who is referred here by the name Lord Gollu. This temple was constructed by a general belonging to the Chand dynasty.

An interesting feature of this hilltop temple is the large number of bells hanging in the premises. These bells are hung by the devotees making a wish or in thanksgiving on the fulfillment of one’s wish.

The nearest railway station is at Kathgodam, about 90 km away from Almora. The nearest airport is Pant Nagar Airport, around 127 km away.
