Chinakathoor Pooram is a popular Festival celebrated at the Sree Chinakathoor Bhagavathy Temple in
Palappuram. The temple is about 5 km from
Ottapalam. The presiding deity of the temple is Goddess Bhagavati.
An annual festival, it is held during February or March. The main events conducted on this occasion are Tholpavakoothu (puppet show), Panchavadyam, Vellattu, Theyyam, Kaalavela and Kuthiravela. An impressive section of the festival is the ceremonial procession of 55 elephants.
