. The story of this fair is linked with Lang Darma, an ancient Tibet ruler, who strongly opposed Buddhism
. The people of his kingdom put an end to his reign by organizing a ritual dance of the demons, and during the course of which he was murdered.
A dance called Asur Dance is performed during this fair, in which people wear loose robes and masks on their faces. It is done to memorize and re-invoke the ritual demon dance.
