Cheranellur Bhagavathi Temple is one of the famous Devi shrines in
Ernakulam District of
Kerala. It is situated at
Cheranellur, 12 km from
Ernakulam. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi.
Every year two festivals are organized here. A nine-day festival, which starts with hoisting of the temple flag, features a host of cultural programs such as kurathiyattom and kathakali. A grand procession led by five decorated tuskers takes place on the eighth day.The procession is accompanied by panchavadyam and chendamelam.
Karthika Utsavam is the second festival celebrated here. This one-day event is highlighted by kathakali performance.
