Cheluvaraya Swami Temple




Built in the 12th century, Cheluvaraya Swami Temple is one of the impressive Hoysala temples. This grand temple is situated at Melkote in Mandya District. A festival called Vairamudi is observed every year during March-April. On this occasion the deity in the temple is adorned with jewelry belonging to the former Maharaja of Mysore.

Melkote is 50 km north of Mysore and 150 km from Bangalore. The nearest railway station is at Mandya which is 40 km away. There are buses which connect Melkote with other nearby cities and towns.
