Chavundaraya Basadi

The Chavundaraya Basadi, built around 982, is one of the oldest basadis on the Chandragiri hill. This basadi is believed to have been constructed by Chavundaraya, the eminent general of the Ganga King Rachamalla Sathyavakya. It is dedicated to Lord Neminath, the 22nd Tirthankar. This structure is a fine example of the Ganga and Hoysala architecture. Sravanabelagola is 52 km Hassan and 145 km from Bangalore. The nearest railhead is Hassan Railway Station.
