Chauragarh Temple




Chauragarh Temple, positioned on a rectangular hilltop, is 4 km from the famous Mahadev Temple of Pachmarhi. Devotees need to climb about 1300 steps to reach the temple. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple is famous for a tradition related with trishul. Devotees carry trishuls of different weights on their shoulders and offer them to the temple. Some of the trishuls weigh three to four quintals and is offered mainly during Mahashivratri festival. Nearest railhead is at Pipariya, about 50 km from here.
