Chari, also known as pot dance, is one of the popular dance forms of Rajasthan
. It is predominantly played in the regions of Ajmer
and Kishangarh. Chari Dance is generally performed on gay occasions.
The performers, mostly ladies of the Mali-Saini caste, carry brightly lit Chari, or brass pot, on their heads and display many flexible movements of the body. As they move, the dancers create illuminated patterns.
