Chaning




Chaning (Abrus precatorius Linn) is a twining shrub mainly found in Senapati District of Manipur. Its seed is considered a purgative, emetic, tonic and aphrodisiac.

The oil made out of its seed is reported to promote the growth of human hair. The plant is useful in nervous disorders, coughs, colds and colic complaints. The roots are useful in curing gonorrhea, jaundice, and haemoglobinuric bile.
