Changdeo

Changdeo is a small sacred village, located 6 km north-west of Edlabad, Maharashtra. In ancient times, it was known as Shri Kshetra Bhingnapur and Sundarpur. As the great Changdeo Maharaj was born here, it gained the name Changdeo.

Being the confluence of the rivers Tapi and Purna, the place is treated holy. Pilgrims visit the site once a year for a holy bath. A 3000 year old temple is another prime attraction. The temple is adorned with carved stony idols. A well-known sage Markandeya is believed to have practiced penance there. Changdeo Fair, Mahashivratri for 6 days and Jestha Shuddha Saptami are celebrated here.

The nearest airport is at Nagpur (177 km) and nearest railway station is Chandrapur (91 km).
