Chandwad




Chandwad is a taluk headquarters of Nasik District in Maharashtra. It lies on National Highway 3 and is to the north-east of Nasik. Satana is 40 km north.

The prime attraction here is Shri Chandranatha Digambar Jain Cave situated amid hills. A 30 inches high idol of Bhagwan Parshwanatha and 4 ft high idols of Tirthankars in standing posture can be spotted here. Also found here are black stone idols of yaksh and yakshis dating back to the 8th century.

Another landmark is a temple with an idol of Bhagwan Adinath. According to inscriptions, this idol was installed on the 12th day of bright moon in the month of Phalgun in Vikram year 1292. There is also a temple dedicated to Bhagwan Chandranath.

Manmad Junction Railway Station is the nearest rail access. Aurangabad Airport is the nearest airport.
