Chandragiri




Chandragiri, situated on the banks of the Swarnamukhi River, is 11 km southwest of Tirupati in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.

During the 16th century it was the capital of the Vijayanagar Empire and today it is dotted with palaces, forts and ruins of Vijayanagar Empire. Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Cooperation offers a sound-and-light show everyday in Telugu and English at Chandragiri Fort.

Chandragiri Fort is the prime attraction and it can be accessed by bus from Tirupati. Chandragiri Railway Station is on the Tirupati - Katpadi rail route.
