Chandrabani Temple

The temple of Chandrabani, also known as Gautam Kund, is situated 7 km south of Dehradun, on the Dehradun- Delhi road.

According to mythology, the region was the abode of Maharishi Gautam, his wife Ahalya and daughter Anjani. Indra had tried to charm Ahalya, with the help of the Moon God, Chandra. When the Rishi got to know of this, he cursed Chandra and converted Ahalya into a stone. Here there is a pond and a temple.

Nestled on the Shivalik Hills in Dehradun District, the temple and the pond are thronged every year by thousands of devotees and they take a holy dip in the pond.
