Chandira Choodeswarar Temple




Chandira Choodeswarar Temple is located on top of a hill at Hosur, in Krishnagiri District, Tamil Nadu. It was built by the Hoysala Dynasty King, Thirupuvanamalla Barvatharaja Anthiyazhvar, in 1260. The temple is dedicated to Choodeswarar (Lord Shiva) and Goddess Maragadambal (Goddess Parvati). The temple is found mentioned in Brahmanda Purana as Bhadragiri Mahatmiyam.

Chandira Choodeswarar Temple has several teerthams namely Maragatha Sarovaram (Karutmadam), Vrishabha Teertham, Shivagangai, Jambava Teertham, Hanuma Teertham and Pandava Teertham.
