Chand Minar

Chand Minar, the Tower of the Moon, is situated at Daulatabad in Maharashtra. Built in 1445, it is considered to be one among the outstanding specimens of Muslim architecture in southern India. Ala-ud-din Bahmani, a king of the Bahmani Dynasty built the fort in memory of his capture of the fort. The tower is 210 ft in height with four storeys and 70 ft circumference at the base. Gorgeous Persian glazed tiles cover the base. The Minar features its own small fortress and buildings around it, which was ruined. In its time, Chand Minar served as a prayer hall or a victory monument.

Daulatabad Fort and Jama Masjid at Daulatabad are worth visiting.

The nearest airport and railway station are in Aurangabad, about 13 km from the fort.
