Chamchung Shrine

Chamchung Shrine is a small temple situated off a courtyard of the Serzang temple in Basgo village, Leh District. This temple was erected by Queen Gyal Khatun, a Balti princess and the wife of Chosgyal Jamyang Namgyal, in 1642. It is the smallest among the three temples in the vicinity.

Set on Leh - Srinagar highway, Chamchung Shrine houses a large image of Maitreya. There are many murals on the walls that depict various guardian divinities. Chamba Lhakhang (Maitreya Temple) is located nearby.

Chamchung temple is 40 km from Leh by road. Leh Airport is the nearest airport.
