Chad Rein Maw Dance




Chad Rein Maw is a special kind of dance performed in honor of a respected person. This dance belongs to the Lyngngam tribe of Meghalaya. This tribe has a tradition of erecting stone pillars in memory of a prominent person. The dance is performed while raising the pillars. The dancers dance and pull the pillars simultaneously while raising the monumental stone. They attire themselves with cock or peacock feathers on the head.
