C Achutha Menon

Former Chief Minister of Kerala



C Achutha Menon, a venerable personality in Indian politics, was born in 1913. He adorned the chief ministership of Kerala for two consecutive terms: 1969-70 and 70-77. Menon started his political carrier as a congressman. Later he joined the Communist Party of India (CPI). He stood by the official faction of the party when it split into two in 1964. Sree Chitira Thirunnal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology was set up during his period. He passed away in 1991.
