Buiya Dance




Buiya is an important dance form of Digaru Mishmis inhabiting in Arunachal Pradesh. It is generally performed on festive occasions such as Duiya, Tazampu and Tanuya festivals and is played for the prosperity and good health of the performer and his household. There is no special costume for this dance.

Buiya Dance requires no formal training and it is performed by imitating the dance movements of the elders. Drum, gong and cymbals are the major musical instruments in accompaniment to this dance.
