Budhanoor




Budhanoor village situated near Chengannur in the eastern part of Alappuzha District of Kerala, used to be an area dominated by Buddhists. This hamlet was a land of scholars, and a meeting place for them to share ideas and listen to spiritual discourses.

The rivers of Pampa, Achankovil and numerous other water bodies bless this region. Numerous renowned holy shrines are seen in the surrounding areas. The most famous among them is the Kulangara Devi Temple, dedicated to goddess Durga. The Pallivilakku (Royal Lantern Festival), is the prime celebration at the temple.

Chengannur Railway Station serves this area. Cochin International Airport is the nearest airport.
