Brajbhoomi is divided into two distinct units by the Yamuna River. The eastern part in trans-Yamuna tract has places such as Gokul, Mahavan, Baldeo, Mat, and Bajna. The western side of the Yamuna is covered with the Mathura region that encompasses Vrindavan, Govardhan, Kusum Sarovar, Varsana and Nandgaon.
