Towards the east of Marjourie Point and Elphineston Point in Mahabaleshwar there is a dense forest called Braharnaya. In olden days sages meditated and offered sacrifices in this forest. Lord Braharnaya had also done his penance in this forest and hence the name Braharnaya.
