Bommarillu Craft




Bommarillu Craft is practiced across Andhra Pradesh. Bommarillu means 'doll’s house,' and it is part of a tradition in Andhra Pradesh. Raw materials used include cockle, snail shell, turtle shell, and coconut shell. Places such as Chittoor are famous for red wood dolls and puppets whereas Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam specialize in horn works. Nakkasis, Mucchis, Janigars, Chittaris make dolls out of Poniki wood. Natural colors such as indigo, vermillion, red chalk, and white clay are used.
