Birshu Fair

Birshu Fair is held during the months of Chaitra and Baisakh (second half of April and first half of May) in Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh. It is a time for great amusement, and delicious dishes are cooked in all the houses and these are distributed among the friends and relatives.

The village temples are decorated, and the people assemble here to see Deo Khel, a dance performed by the priest. He goes into a trance and makes predictions and assures the people of the help of the Lord in times of need.

The idols of gods and goddesses are taken around the village, and people greet and seek blessings from them in front of their houses.
