Located about 10 km north-west of Jagroan, Birk village of Ludhiana District
is considered a sacred place because Guru Hargobind
, the sixth Sikh Guru
, is said to have stayed here in 1631.
To commemorate the visit of the guru, Gurdwara Manji Sahib Chhevin Patshahi has been constructed in the south-west of Birk. The village becomes a festive scene when thousands throng Birk during the major festival of this gurdwara
