Bijli Mahadev Temple

Built in the Ladakish style, Bijli Mahadev is located at the top of Mullaiyanagiri, at 6,317 ft above sea level, the highest peak in Karnataka. A flight of 300 stone steps lead to this temple. Lord Shiva is said to have come here to protect the people from a lightning strike. It is said that lightning breaks the shivling installed here into pieces every year, within a 3 month period. And the temple priest brings the pieces together and allows it to heal itself within closed doors.

To reach here the nearest railway station is Kadur (36 km).
