Bhootha Aradhane

Bhootha Aradhane, a form of worship is very common in the coastal towns of Karnataka. Bhoothas or potent spirits are taken out in a demonstration to the beating of drums and bursting of firecrackers. The dancer who represents the spirit whirls round with sword and jingling bells. The idols are placed on a pedestal when the procession comes to end, and the dancer possessed by the spirit acts as an oracle.
