Bhimtal




Set admist the Kumaon hills, Bhimtal is a small town at an altitude of 1,400 m above sea level in Nainital District. This town, 23 km from 17165.Nainital, is a famous lake resort. Dappled paths and ravines with dog rose and wild raspberry adorn the place.

The town is named after Bhim, a legendary character in the Indian epic Mahabharata. Bhimtal Lake, the largest lake in Nainital District, is the main attraction. Other attractions include the Victorian dam and the Folk Culture Museum. Horse riding can be enjoyed.

The ideal time to visit is April to July and September to October.

Naukuchiatal (4 km), Sat Tal (7 km) and Godhakhel Temple (3 km) are the nearest tourist spots. Bhimtal can be reached from Pant Nagar Airport (55 km) and Kathgodam Railway Station (23 km).
