Bhimakanda



Located at about 30 km from north of Talcher town in Angul District, Bhimakanda is a village with immense historical and religious importance. The landmark of the village is the sleeping image of Lord Vishnu, the second largest image in India in size. This image is ascribed to 8th–9th Century A D. It is home to the largest coal based Super Thermal Power Plant of the National Thermal Power Corporation. This village on the right bank of river Brahmani is one of the most important tourist spots in the region.
