Bheemeshwari Wildlife Sanctuary




Bheemeshwari Wildlife Sanctuary is situated between the cascades of Mekedatu, Barachukki and Gaganachukki in Mandya District. It is a perfect picnic spot with verdant forest, steep valley and beautiful streams. It is the natural home for Mahseer fish and a variety of exciting animals. Fauna includes wild boars, monkeys, jackals, crocodiles, otters, leopards and deers. Variety of birds such as heron, ibis, cormorant, and kingfisher are also seen. A fishing camp called Cauvery Fishing Camp is situated nearby, which offers the exciting option of angling. The best season to visit Bheemeshwari National Park is from December to March.

Jungle lodges and resorts provide tented accommodation and log huts near the river Cauvery. To arrive at this place by air, Bangalore International airport is at a distance of 120 km. The nearest railhead is Mandya, 60 km.
