Bhavnagar District




Bhavnagar District of Gujarat is located in the Gulf of Khambhat. It is spread over an area of 11,155 sq km. The headquarters is Bhavnagar, which is a leading cotton-exporting seaport with a natural harbor. The major crops are groundnut, onion and bajra.

The sacred Shatrunjaya hill rising above Palitana is the most famed place in Bhavnagar. This hill is sacred to the Jains. There are many temples on the top of the hill. Talaja is famous for the Jain temples and Abhal Mandap on a small hill. The Indian Salt and Marine Research Institutes are situated here.

Gandhi Smriti, Takhteshwar Temple, Velavadar National Park, and Barton Library and Museum, Sri Ghogha Teerth, Mahuva Teerth, Palitana, and Sihor are the important places to visit.
