Bhavanisagar is a town in the western side of
Erode District in
Tamil Nadu. It lies close to the border of
Nilgiris and
Coimbatore districts.
Bhavani Sagar Dam, built across the Bhavani River, is the main attraction here. An Agricultural Research Station is located close to the dam site. At about 10 km away lies the famous Mariamman Temple (at Bannari), which is a prominent pilgrim center of the district. Thengumarahada, home to various species of flora and fauna, is a two-hour drive from Bhavanisagar.
The place can be reached from Satyamangalam (16 km) and Mettupalayam. C A Coimbatore Airport and Metupalaiyam Railway Station are the nearest access points.
