Bhattiprolu




Bhattiprolu is a small village, situated on Guntur-Repalle railway line in Guntur District. It contains the remains of a Buddhist stupa on a mound. The excavations have brought to light three inscribed stone relic caskets containing crystal caskets, relics of Buddha and jewels. Findings also include the Mahachaitya remains of a large pillared hall, a collection of ruined votive stupas with some images of Buddha, stone container containing copper vessel, which in turn, contained a silver casket and a gold casket enclosing beads of bone and crystal within it.
