Bharoval

Bharoval is a small village, about 15 km east of Tarn Taran, in Amritsar District. This village is considered as a sacred place because Guru Angad Dev is believed to have stayed here during a journey to Khadur Sahib. Bharoval is historically important in that this is the place where Henry Lawrence issued the controversial Bharoval Treaty on 16th December 1846. Through this treaty, the British took over Punjab. By road, Amritsar is about 40 km from here. Amritsar International Airport is the nearest airport.
