Bharat Mandir

Bharat Mandir, built around the 12th century by Adiguru Shankracharya, is a beautiful temple situated in the heart of Rishikesh, Uttaranchal.

The sanctum of the temple has the idol of Lord Vishnu, which is carved out of a single Saligram. In the inner canopy above the idol is shree yantra, which was installed by Adi Shankracharya.

In 1398, the original temple was destroyed by Tamur lane. There were many old statues, coins and pots discovered in recent excavations. Detailed account of this temple is available in an ancient record of Kearkhand.
