Bhaiyana Tribe

Bhaiyanas, belonging to the generation of Kanwars and Gonds, is a lesser-known tribe found in the state of Chhattisgarh. Their population is around 15,000 and they are on the brink of extinction.

Though they are small in population yet the community members maintain their gorgeous multicolored costume of their traditional distinctiveness, and retain the Bhaiyanas language and culture.

Majority of the tribe members make their livelihood from agriculture. Bhaiyanas believe in Hindu religion and their principal goddess is Natkidevi or Nak-hin (without nose), goddess of Bilaspur.
