Bhairav Ghati is a famous pilgrim center in
Udhampur District and is on the way to the
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. It is believed that the journey to Mata Vaishnodevi's shrine is not complete unless the devotee visits the temple of Bhairav.
The temple enshrines the head of the demon-god 'Bhairava' while his body is believed to be inside the cave nearby, petrified in the form of a rock. A ritual demands that the pilgrims should crawl over the rock.
The temple is located near Katra.
