Bhagat Beni

Bhagat Beni was a saint of great repute and one of the 15 contributors in the verses that make up the Guru Granth Sahib. He was known for his utter devotion towards god.

Three of Bhagat Beni's hymns have been included in the Guru Granth Sahib. They exhibit an extreme sense of spiritual longing. They contain the various paths he tried for success in spiritual life. They also contain his personal experiences. They describe the mastery he attained in various religious systems. Beni’s opposition to the practices followed by the Brahmins is reflected in his hymns. He greatly detested their manner of showing piety outwardly while harbouring evil thoughts in their minds. He concludes his hymns by stating that the true path to liberation can only be attained by following Guru Nanak's teachings.
