Bhagamandala, also known as Bhagundeshwara Kshetra, is a temple town located 39 km from
Madikeri in
Karnataka. It is the meeting place of
Cauvery (river) with its tributaries, Kannika and Sujyoti. This is popularly known as Triveni Sangama. A dip in the Sangama before going to
Talakaveri is considered sacred. Another specialty is Pindapradhana which is a ritual performed for the ancestors.
The Bhagamandala Temple, a blend of Malayalee and Nepali architecture with multi-layered roofs, is worth-seeing. There are also other three temples, which are dedicated to Lord Ganapathy, Subramanya and Vishnu. An annual festival that falls in October/November invites a substantial number of devotees. Thousands of oil lamps are lit in the temples during the festival.
In addition, Bhagamandala has a central apiary performing demonstration and research training in modern methods of bee keeping. Talakaveri, Cauvery Nisargadhama and Harangi are the places of interest nearby. The closest airport and railhead are at Mangalore and Mysore respectively. Both private and government buses ply to Bhagamandala.
