Bhadrak District




Bhadrak District of Orissa is a land of many freedom fighters, and also contributes equally well to the social, economical, cultural, and political spheres. It is famous for the Bhadrakali Temple. It covers an area of 2,788 sq km, and has a population of 1.3 million. Bhadrak has an average rainfall of 1,451 mm, and the climate is characterized by fairly hot summers and cool winters. The Baitarani and Salandi are the major rivers in the region. Oriya, Hindi, English and Bengali are the commonly spoken languages.

Chandbali port occupies a distinct place in Orissa's trade and navigation. Major places of tourist interest are Aradi, Dhamanagar, Dhamra, Arharpada (Bhadrakali), and Ishwarpur.
