Benisagar

Benisagar Village lies in West Singhbhum District of Jharkhand and is located near the district's border with Mayurbhanj District in Orissa.

The village is famous for archaeological findings and it derives its name from the King Beni. Evidence of a 5th century Vedic Hindu university has recently been unearthed by archaeologists here. A seal of the Gupta period was recovered from here, which led to finding of the university.

Prime attraction is the famous Khiching Temple, which is related to the king Kichak of Mahabharata. It is believed that the Pandavas spent a short time here during their exile.
