Bellare




Bellare is located in Dakshina Kannada District of Karnataka. It is around 22 km south-east of Puttur.

Shri Lakshmi Venkataramana Temple is the main attraction here. Bellare once served as the seat of Ballals (Jain kings), the place had a palace and a Jain temple. During the period of Ikkeri rulers, this place was an important trading center for the surrounding villages. A fort was built by the Ikkeri ruler Venkatappa Nayak here.

Mangalore, the district headquarters, is around 74 km north-west of Bellare. Nearest airport is Mangalore Airport. Puttur Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
