Beacon Highway is a road to the north of
Leh which seems to never stop, rising ever higher as if on an astral quest. It starts from Leh and leads into the Nubra Valley, over a pass at 5,606 m. This route is open only in September and October. For the rest of the year it is covered by ice on the northern side of the Nubra valley. Since Nubra valley is a restricted area, special permission is needed to visit this place.
