Bayana is situated in the Bharatpur District
, near the left bank of Gambhiri River. Ruled by Mohammad Ghori, Sikandar Lodhi and Humayun
, this historic town was known as Sripatha or Sriprashtha. It is believed that, Bayana is the burial place of many illustrious men. According to Ain-e-Akbari, Bayana was the capital of a province of which Agra was merely a dependant village.
